Sable Halter Neck Ruched Tank Top

A halter neck does something a regular strap cannot. It leaves the shoulders and the whole upper back bare, and it draws the eye up the neck rather than across the chest. Add ruching through the body and you get soft vertical gathers that give the fabric texture and let it move with you instead of pulling flat.

It is made from 100% polyester that is slightly stretchy. The cut is short, as a halter tank should be: length runs 21.3 inches at S, 21.7 inches at M and 22 inches at L. Bust is given as a range because of the stretch, measuring 33.1 to 37 inches at S, 34.6 to 38.6 inches at M and 36.2 to 40.2 inches at L. Sizes are S, M and L, and three colors are offered: apricot, black and wine red.

This is a going out top more than a daytime one, though it works either way. High waisted jeans and heeled sandals is the standard and it does not need improving on. A leather mini and boots pushes it later into the night. Because the back is bare, a strapless or halter style bra is the practical answer, and a long necklace is a bad idea here since the neckline is already the feature. Wine red is the richest of the three and looks best against gold. Apricot is the softest and reads warm in daylight. Black goes anywhere, as black does.
