The Fashorio care guide
A few small habits keep your favourites looking new for longer. Here are our best care tips — the four rules that cover almost everything, then fabric-by-fabric guidance. When in doubt, the care label on each garment always comes first.
Wash cold & inside out
A cold, gentle cycle is kinder on fibres, colour and shape — and turning garments inside out protects prints and the outer surface.
Air dry, don’t tumble
Hang or lay flat to dry. Skipping the tumble dryer keeps stretch, fit and elastane intact and avoids heat shrinkage.
Read the care label
The label on each garment always wins. Check the fabric and symbols before washing — it takes seconds and saves your favourites.
Use a mesh wash bag
Pop delicates, activewear, swimwear and anything with straps or embellishment into a mesh bag to stop snags, stretching and tangles.
How to care for every fabric
Cotton, viscose & linen
- Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, inside out, with like colours.
- Air dry to avoid shrinkage; reshape while damp.
- Iron on low–medium while slightly damp. Linen creases naturally — it’s part of the look.
Denim
- Wash cold, inside out, with similar colours — and wash as little as you can to keep the colour rich.
- Air dry rather than tumble dry to protect the stretch and fit.
- Spot-clean small marks between washes to make a pair last.
Activewear, swimwear & soft-fit
- Cold wash in a mesh bag; skip fabric softener (it coats fibres and reduces stretch and wicking).
- Always air dry — heat is the enemy of elastane.
- Rinse swimwear in cool water after chlorine, salt or sun cream to protect the fabric.
Lace, satin & sequin
- Hand wash or use a gentle cold cycle inside a mesh bag; take off rings and bracelets so they don’t snag.
- Hang or lay flat to dry; never wring.
- Steam or iron inside-out on low. Turn sequins inside out and keep them out of the dryer.
Knitwear & sweaters
- Wash cold on gentle or by hand; use a mild detergent.
- Lay flat to dry — hanging pulls a knit out of shape.
- Fold to store (don’t hang), and gently de-pill with a fabric comb to keep it looking new.
Faux leather & coated (PU)
- Spot-clean with a soft damp cloth and a little mild soap — never machine wash.
- Air dry away from direct heat or sunlight, which can crack the finish.
- Store hung or flat so it keeps its shape.
Bags & shoes
- Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth; avoid soaking.
- Store in a dry place (a dust bag is ideal) and stuff bags lightly to hold their shape.
- Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading.
Jewelry — moissanite & sterling silver
- Keep it dry: take jewelry off before showering, swimming, exercise and applying lotion or perfume.
- Store pieces separately (a soft pouch or box) so they don’t scratch each other.
- Polish sterling silver with a soft cloth if it tarnishes; clean moissanite with mild soapy water and a soft brush.

Care — frequently asked questions
How do I stop my clothes from shrinking?+
Wash cold on a gentle cycle and air dry instead of tumble drying — heat is the main cause of shrinkage, especially on cotton, viscose and knits. Always check the garment’s care label first.
Can I put everything in the dryer?+
It’s best not to. Air drying protects fit, stretch and elastane and prevents shrinkage, so we recommend hanging or laying items flat to dry — particularly denim, activewear, swimwear and knitwear. Follow the care label for anything you’re unsure about.
How do I wash delicates like lace or satin?+
Hand wash, or use a gentle cold cycle inside a mesh wash bag, then hang or lay flat to dry. Remove rings and bracelets first so they don’t snag, and steam or iron inside-out on a low heat.
How do I keep my denim from fading?+
Wash it cold, inside out, with similar colours, and wash it as little as you can — spot-cleaning small marks between washes helps a lot. Air dry rather than tumble dry to keep both the colour and the fit.
How do I care for moissanite and sterling silver jewelry?+
Keep it dry and take it off before showering, swimming, exercise and applying lotion. Store pieces separately to avoid scratches, polish sterling silver with a soft cloth if it tarnishes, and clean moissanite with mild soapy water and a soft brush.
