How do I choose dog clothes that fit?

The best dog clothes fit snugly without squeezing and leave the legs free to move. Measure your dog's neck, the widest part of the chest, and the back length from collar to base of tail. Compare those numbers to the size chart on each item, and size up if you land between two sizes. Dogs in clothes are a familiar sight, but cats are pickier. Many cats prefer light, stretchy tops or simple scarves, so start with the softest, simplest piece. Short legged, long bodied dogs like dachshunds are often happier in a style with a shorter body and roomy leg openings. Larger dogs usually do best in wide chest styles with adjustable closures. Whatever the pet, comfort and freedom of movement matter more than the look of the outfit.
